Jesse Fowler: work record

A record in ninety days

Selling auto policies at AAA with no network and no name, I chose to treat the first quarter as a tryout.

My first outside job was selling auto policies at AAA. I was in my early twenties. I had no sales history and nobody in the industry to call.

I made a call at the start: the first ninety days were a tryout, not a warm-up. I worked volume and follow-up harder than the room's seniority said I needed to.

The reasoning was plain. Without a network or a reputation, the only thing I controlled was activity, and follow-through done more steadily than the person beside me. A strong first quarter shows the method works before office politics or burnout can interfere.

Within three months I had set a California state record for auto-policy sales. I went on to be named salesperson of the month four times in my run there.

In a new seat, win something measurable before anybody has settled on an opinion of you. Anyone starting from nothing can do that, and no one above you has to sign off first.
