Deciding to broker my own building's sale
When a buyer surfaced for a LÏEF project, I took the sale process into my own hands.
A buyer turned up for a LÏEF project. The usual move is to give the whole matter to a broker and wait for the broker's pace. I decided against it, opened the sale process myself, and took the lead on facilitation.
The person running a process sets its speed and frames it. Sit back and hope an intermediary hurries, and deals tend to drift and quietly die.
The process began the day I decided, with me personally in charge. When you care more about the result than the intermediary does, take the wheel. I accepted the extra workload rather than depend on an outsider's incentives to match the urgency of mine.
