Origin: LÏEF Development
LÏEF came out of the wreck of Aycre Capital, built so I never again depend on a partner I have not vetted.
LÏEF came directly out of the collapse of Aycre Capital. Fourteen months of running the capital side of a Las Vegas fund had just ended for me. I met Jon Armstrong while shopping a spinoff concept around Phoenix, and his company went on to be LÏEF's construction partner. I also settled one thing: no more relying on a technical partner I had not checked out myself.
LÏEF therefore has every discipline under one roof: we design it, we build it, we own it. Jon Armstrong, my partner, handles the general contractor side through his own licensed company. The first real project converts a 1971 office tower in Midtown Phoenix into residences. I manage the whole pre-development process inside the company, and I do not pay outside architects several hundred thousand dollars for work I can control.
Each hard lesson from Tellus and from Aycre is baked into how the company is organized, which is the reason I trust it more than anything else I have built.
