Origin: Save the World Air, Inc.
Around 2011 I consulted for a small public company and helped raise about three million dollars.
In about 2011 I ended up working with Save the World Air, a small public company in Santa Barbara trading as ZRO. Its technology aimed to push oil through pipelines more efficiently. I am no engineer. My strength was raising money and telling a company's story to people who might invest. I joined as a consultant and took an equity position as part of the deal.
I helped bring in about three million dollars. It came through my own network, with each investor matched to the risk they were comfortable with, and I told them openly that I was investing as well. Much of the job was explaining why the deal drew me and understanding what each investor could handle.
The role was a side bet in years when Tellus held most of my attention. You say yes to something like that because the problem is interesting and the people are worth your time. I stayed in the position through the company's rename. It showed me that raising capital for another person's idea is a real skill of mine, years before Aycre or Common Ground put it formally into my work.
