My first fractional seat: a back office that could not turn full schedules into cash.
My first fractional seat was Sublime Medical in 2015. It had three cosmetic dermatology practices with full schedules and a back office that could not convert the work to cash. For four months I held the chief operating officer role.
Everyone assumed collections were the problem. They were not. The trouble was software and housekeeping. The practices were not paying for the right billing software, what they owned was configured incorrectly, billing codes were out of date, and office paperwork had fallen apart. I started a weekly check on billing codes and rebuilt the paperwork system. Four months later insurance billing had risen 42 percent month over month.
Both systems stayed after I left, and that outcome matters most to me. Arriving for the stated problem and fixing the real one underneath describes clearly what I have done for clients since.
