Telling prospects the email was written by an AI

I tested cold outreach that opens by disclosing the AI behind it.

The outreach tools we had rented from third parties were clunky and unreliable, so a custom AI and scheduled-task system took their place. That left a question: once AI was doing the writing, what should cold outreach actually say?

I tried a transparent pitch. It opened by disclosing the AI agent, which was trained on a large body of my own real emails and messages. Most outreach conceals its automation, and mine did not.

The common reflex is to hide AI authorship, on the theory that disclosure erodes trust. I bet the other way. Say honestly what the tool is, and support it with one real detail that makes the personalization believable. That reads as more trustworthy than a polished, generic note posing as personally written.

Early results were encouraging: a couple of real replies a day, from about two hundred emails and a similar count of LinkedIn messages each day. We are still deciding between high-volume outreach and the smaller, higher-touch style that had worked well earlier.

Admitting the AI can be the credibility move and not the liability, when a real detail backs it. I bet on honesty against the industry's habit of hiding the machinery. People answer truth better than they answer a polished disguise.
