The steakhouse's parent company became Common Ground
I let Three Trails grow into Common Ground in place so the company kept its real age.
Three Trails began in 2019 as my consulting and holding entity, with Greensleeves Steakhouse held on it as an asset. Years later the company required a public identity that fit what it had turned into: an advisory operating group and not a one-restaurant holding company.
A brand-new company was not the answer. Three Trails changed in place into Common Ground, and I carried the 2019 start date and the genuine operating record along with it, with no clock reset.
A company's age is where its credibility comes from. Starting the entity over for a neater public story would have thrown out six years of real operating history in exchange for a tidier press release, a poor trade. Common Ground counts 2019 as its first year, with the Three Trails and Greensleeves period as its origin chapter, and not 2024, when the current name and masthead went live.
The honest start date is when the real risk-taking began, and not when today's name went on the door. I chose the longer, truer account of the company's age, even though the shorter, tidier one would have been simpler to explain.
